Here is the updated agile project planning spreadsheet. The tools in this spreadsheet enable a realistic and highly accurate approach to project estimation and planning. I'd like to thank my colleague Lori for quite a bit of help with these updates.
For one, it accounts for all of the activities that developers take on while coding, such as bug fixes, stand up and iteration meetings, training, helping others, unit tests, etc. It also converts the estimates to "average developer weeks" that are ideally suited for planning delivery schedules and project resource needs. Take it for a spin and let me know what you think.
I previously organized a number of my posts that take you step by step through the usage of this spreadsheet to come up with your list of stories, estimate the stories, apply an adjustment factor, plan releases, plan resource needs, and plan budget.
